On May 15, 2012 at the Kyiv Regional Institute of Postgraduate teachers` education in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv Region was held a presentation of a pilot project teaching computer literacy in education. Actually, this presentation is a beginning of the project "Electronic School" in the Kyiv region.
The purpose of the pilot project "Electronic School" is to improve the knowledge and skills of district representatives of the Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, principals and teachers of schools as well as to improve culture of using of the Internet by students.
Among the issues discussed during the presentation, were:
- General principles of the pilot project "Electronic School" in the Kyiv region;
- The main directions of the project (child safety on the Internet, sharing knowledge about advanced information and communication technologies, creating an educational environment of the educational institution);
- Training on the program "Onlandia - Child Safety on the Internet."
The presentation was attended by representatives of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, representatives of 13 schools of the Kyiv region, representatives of the companies - participants of the project.
The pilot project "Electronic School" is an initiative of the Kyiv Regional State Administration with the personal assistance of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Chairman Anatoliy Prysiazhnyuk and with direct participation of the companies «Microsoft Ukraine", "Ukrainian High Technologies" (TM "Freshetel"), PJSC "Datagroup" and SV-consulting, LLC.
This project is the first of such kind in Ukraine, because it involves a software company, high speed Internet providers and consulting company that specializes in consulting services in information and communication technologies and attracting investments, as a project coordinator. Such co-operation with the assistance of the Kyiv Regional State Administration will ensure the success of the project "Electronic School".
The pilot project "Electronic School" is the second phase of a major educational program of the Kyiv Regional State Administration. In the first phase Administration has provided high-speed Internet access for over one hundred schools in the region.
Training sessions in the Bila Tserkva began the next phase of the project, which aims increasing computer literacy of the teachers and students of the Kyiv Region.
The project "Electronic School" provides modernization of the computer park of the schools of the Kyiv region, using licensed software, providing access to a new generation platform for learning and communication - Microsoft Live@edu, methodical education of principals, teachers and students on computer technologies in education, training skills and computer security.
