Secretary General of the Council of Europe is concerned about the lack of progress in negotiations between Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych, UNIAN informs.

‘Here in Strasbourg we are deeply concerned about lack of progress in negotiations between two sides of the confrontaion,’ press service of Terry Davis reports.

Secretary General of the Council of Europe urges all political powers and law enforcement bodies to avoid voilence, and all Ukrainian citizens – to obey the law.

Mr.Davis aldo stated that the current crisis in Ukraine has proved importance of European standards of conducting honest elections and other obligations Ukraine had agreed on while becoming member of the Council of Europe in 1995.

‘We are ready to provide to Ukraine any kind of help it may need to conduct investigations of falsifications of election results, vote counting and preparation of the new elections,’ Terry Davis stated.
