Today at a press-conference in Kyiv, Serhey Tyhypko announced that he has decided to resign from his position as the head of the National Bank of Ukraine.

A correspondent from UNIAN reported that Serhey Tyhypko stated: `I have decided to commit myself entirely to political activity`.

He expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of his co-workers, with whom he has worked during his term as head of the National Bank.

S. Tyhypko also stated, that fulfilling his role as head of the bank at a time of such political upheaval is simply not possible.
