`On November 23, 2004, at 19:37, Internet site `Tribuna` (www.tribuna.com.ua), referring to an anonymous source in the law-enforcing bodies, publicized information that the Office of the Public Prosecutor General of Ukraine instituted criminal cases against the leadership of Lviv or Ivano-Frankivsk city councils that took a decision to recognize Viktor Yushcheko the President. It was also announced that Volodymyr Zherbytsky, head of department of the Office of the Prosecutor General, left fo the Western Ukraine accompanied by a group of representatives of the special-purpose sub-units`, the press statement publicized by the press service of the Office of the Public Prosecutor General announced.

The Office of the Public Prosecutor General officially informs the public that this information does not fully represent the facts. The Office of the Public Prosecutor General did not institute any criminal cases on grounds mentioned in the news, while Volodymyr Zherbytsky is in Kyiv and is working on his official duties.
